Behringer Multicom Pro MDX4400 -- : Specifications Manual Warranty Enlarged View Top View Rear View The Behringer MDX4400 is a 4-channel compressor limiter that can be used in Professional and Home Studios as well as sound reinforcement and night clubs. It uses an "Auto Processor" that reads the input signal and finds the optimum attack and release times for the signal. This Compressor is designed to be inaudible. Which means that it doesn't make your signal sound compressed. It's used to decrease the dynamic range of a signal and then raise it's overall volume so that it's apparent volume is increased. This works wonders on vocals and voice overs. It can also be use for bi-amped sound reinforcemnet situation where two compressors/limters are used per channel. One compressor/limter would be used for the high frequencies while the other would be used for the low frequencies. This allows you to boost the overall volume of your PA. There are a number of things that are possible with the MDX4400. It's not just a compressor. There are four independent (post compressor) limiters that are placed right after the compressor. They will "Limit" the audio signal from going beyond a certain level (set by you). When pushed to the limiter has a natural sound. You can really boost your volume as well as save your power amps and speaker by placing a limter between the mixingboard and power amps or tape machine. It uses a IKA (Interactive Knee Adaptiation) circuit that was developed by Behringer. It combines the advantages of both types of audio signal compression: Hard Knee and Soft Knee compression characteristics. It also has a High-Pass side chain input that can be used for voice over as well as De-Essing and ducking. You can view the input and output gain via the LED meters. It comes with both XLR and 1/4" Tip Ring Sleeve connetors. You can also plug in a -10dB line level signal into the 1/4" jack. The servo input will compensate for it. It's really a simple and easy to use 4-channel compressor and limiter in a single rack mount case.
